Let’s talk February and March’s cookie donations! Both went to nursing homes but February’s donation was very near to my heart. My Grandma loved getting weekly cookies from me and sharing with her friends (most of the time – if she really liked something, she wouldn’t always share). She is the BOB in Bobey Lou and the reason that we donate to nursing homes. She would tell our family about other residents who didn’t get visitors or mail and it is why we bake it forward to nursing homes. Our February donation went to the 3rd floor residents and staff at Shepherd of the Valley in Poland, Ohio where my Grandma had lived for the last few years and additional cookies to the staff in the skilled area who took care of her at the end. Our family will be forever grateful to all these folks who touched my Grandma’s life.
March’s donation went to Bayside Manor in Keansburg, NJ. One of my customer’s at Bell Works market told us that she worked there and that they would love to get a donation. I was SO EXCITED that when I went in to donate, she was working the front desk! I don’t know whose smile was bigger, hers or mine. And that is why we do what we do. The smiles! I truly love making people’s day just a little brighter with a cookie.
We already have an idea for April’s donation (trying to make that happen next week) and we’ve already been approached from a few folks who want to partner with us for future donations! Let’s get the word out and BAKE IT FORWARD.
